Quick ways to shift out of anxiety👇🏻⁣⁣

🌳 Go outside. I seriously believe this is one of the fastest ways to ground your nervous system. Especially going for a walk, taking your shoes off, feeling the ground with your feet, laying down in the grass. Hug a tree. I’m not lying. Now is the time to unleash your inner hippie. It’s for your nervous system’s sake.⁣⁣

⁣⁣

👀 Start looking around and describing your surroundings: the colors, textures, sounds and sensations you see, hear and feel. You can’t be in your head and paying close attention to your environment at the same time.⁣⁣

⁣⁣

🏃🏼‍♀️Go for a walk, do some yoga or dance. Literally just put your phone down and start wiggling around like no ones watching (cause no one is!) Get out of your head and into your body. Once again, you can’t be both in your head and in your body at the same time. Get into your body!⁣⁣

⁣⁣

📝 Pour it out on paper. Your journal is your bff. Stream of consciousness write until you’ve let everything out. Then, shift into journaling about things you feel grateful for.⁣⁣

⁣⁣

👩🏼‍🎨 Create. Get into a flow state by doing art, yoga, sports whatever it is that gets you to that place where you lose track of time. I don’t care if you’re a “bad artist.” Pick up a notebook and start doodling like you’re in 5th grade. Create a collage. Knit. Immersing yourself in art moves you into your right brain which helps turn off the anxious train of thought and shift you into a parasympathetic state.⁣⁣
